Learning the French Language
We were very glad to have undertaken the lessons we did in England, this seemed to give us a basic level of language. However you very soon realise that there is a lot more to learn.
We have enrolled in local classes that are government sponsored, we attend these twice a week. But we realise we still need to do more and are looking at the courses that are offered by Linkword Languages. They seem to use word association to build vocabulary.
Moving Money to France
Don't get ripped of by your UK bank.
After transferring money from our UK bank to our French bank account a couple of times and paying charges at both ends I did a little research and found some money brokerage companies, some of those I contacted were very slow to respond. However one did respond quickly and answered all my questions. I have undertaken transactions with them and all went smoothly, the rate was good and no charges were made at either end, so much better than what my UK bank could achieve.
Call home for FREE
This is great !
You can call family and friends back home for FREE using SKYPE and your PC, you can even call normal telephones for an incredible price, and get a number so family can call you cheaply as well.
Gites to Rent
A friend of ours has two high quality Gites for rent.
The gites were once part of a traditional Cevenol Farm 'Mas' and have been recently renovated in an authentic Cevenol style with wooden beams and floors inside and old stones walls outside. All the original architecture; external and internal has been lovingly preserved.
