All packed up and nowhere to go
It was about 8pm on Monday night when we got a phone call from our son to say that Ryanair had cancelled his flight due to the French strikes. He was due to arrive the next day for a week. He was all packed and ready to go, the car park was booked, holiday booked from work.
We were all devastated; we tried to find another way to get him here. Train, boat, plane we tried the lot, they were either fully booked, too expensive or too impractical. The Ryanair reservation number was not being answered and the link they gave him to rebook his flights were not showing any flights available until Saturday, the day he was due to go home.
After a whole evening trying every which way we could, we admitted defeat. The next morning he managed to rebook for the end of April, he had to phone his work to see if he could return to work this week and have his holiday at a later date. You do not realise what an effect these strikes have on people, I suppose that is the idea but you do become a bit blasé when it does not directly affect you. Dennis has now got a mountain of food to eat before it goes to waste. It’s a tough job but someone has to do it.
